Tejon Exclosure 2

Tehachapi Mountains, Tejon Ranch, California.  A garden exclosure on a south facing slope in a montane environment in the Tehachapi Mountains as part of a large experiment studying microclimate controls on tree species establishment.  The exclosure is to prevent herbivores and rodents from interfering with experimental plots.  Two oak species (Quercus douglasii and Q. kelloggii) and three pine species (Pinus sabiniana, P. ponderosa, and P. jeffreyi) are planted inside the garden.  The garden also contains a meteorological station and an array of 20 temperature data loggers surrounding the garden gathering ground surface temperatures at ten-minute intervals.
